Table Top to Albury

Finally finished the track to Albury on the weekend. Last couple of days, have been building Albury yard as per 1962 yard diagram. Finally finished tonight. Lots of track (broad gauge and standard) done and sidings named. Finished for now. Will check how things still look tomorrow etc.

Gerogery to Table Top P1

Tonight, laid some track near Table Top. Eating in a bit of the hillside going up to table Top (MP 626-627) but not too bad. Stopped for tonight as I'm not in the mood for a long track laying session. Work a bit hectic as well, so will finish off to Table Top tomorrow hopefully.

Weekend Work

Bit done over the weekend. Laid track to Gerogery. Slow going but relatively happy with progress.

Yerong Creek to Henty

Laid track from Yerong Creek to Henty tonight. Mostly followed the contours of the land. Happy with that section. Last milepost measured was mp 581. That's it tonight.

Bomen Sidings

Belated blog to record I've laid the track for Bomen sidings and loop. Not sure of the gradient of the sidings as it sits quite a bit off the ground at the moment. Will revisit later.

Uranquinty to The Rock

More basic track laying tonight. Had a spare hour so laid down track to just past The Rock. Most of the curves are ok and lines up reasonably well with the Google lines I drew. A slight alignment on one of the long straights to keep it approx. in line. Some clearing where the track was going underground. Will fix up the ground later when I go back and start detailing. That's it for now.

Wagga to Uranquinty

Track laid from Wagga to Uranquinty. Need to fix up some of the gradient changes as they look a bit steep. Will revisit that later. Placed a train at Uranquinty to drive to Wagga but ran out of time tonight. Now need to look for the Uranquinty yard layout.

Wagga Station

Ok, completed laying track around Wagga station including the Tumbarumba branch to the RAAF base. Used the 1931 yard diagram but omitted some areas that were gone in the 1980s. Will revisit when I start adding signals/track speeds etc.

First post but already started

Ok, this is a bit late seeing I have already started a while ago but decided to start blogging my progress as well. I am attempting to build the NSW Main South line from Junee to Albury. Trying to make it as it was like in the 1980s, but may be too hard. Here's the summary to date:
  • Mapped out the main points and lines in Google maps, exported out and imported into TS 2014. The actual lines haven't really changed too much since the 80's, mainly the extra passing loops and taking out sidings here and there etc.
  • DEM data downloaded and made available in TS2014.
  • DEM data imported into route for Junee and branch all the way to The Rock. Issue around Shepherds Siding and crashes TS 2014. Skipped this part and just raised the terrain for the moment to lay the track. Also issue around the branch from The Rock. Starting to get annoying here.
  • No scenery done or anything other than bare track. Didn't care if it was above the ground or not at the moment.
  • Using Oxford Oily track as main track type for this route. All turnouts from the main line are automatic. All turnouts and switches from non-Main line track are manual. Haven't changed any speed limits yet.
  • Track laid in Junee and branch to Old Junee - don't like it too much at the moment as I it was my first attempt and didn't really know what I was doing. May redo it.
  • Track laid from Junee to Wagga Wagga now with accurate as possible gradients and curves. Better at things and running a lot more smoothly than before.
  • Created siding at Shepherd's Siding. No sidings at Harefield or Bomen yet.
  • Laid the platform track and the No.1 road at Wagga Wagga. No turnouts laid yet. Put down a platform to see how things look. Not bad.
  • Ran a test train from Wagga to Junee. Liked what I saw but a lot of work to do to fix everything up properly.
That's the summary so far. No more work today. Other things to do. Ciao...
